How to withdraw from Kalshi, and how long it really takes
Kalshi charges no fee on any withdrawal method. What differs is speed, who can use it, and how it fails. Timings below are Kalshi's own; the failure modes come from its documentation too, and they explain most of what users report going wrong.

Every method, side by side
| Method | Typical arrival | Fee | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crypto | ~30 minutes | none | US and international |
| Debit card | a few hours | none | US and international |
| Bank transfer | a few business days | none | US only |
| Venmo | see the linking trap below | none | US, not every state |
| PayPal | listed by Kalshi, no stated time | not stated | eligible users |
| Wire | not stated | not stated | amounts over $500,000 |
Crypto is by a wide margin the fastest, and it is the only method that is both fast and open to international users. It has two prerequisites: a prior crypto deposit is required before you can withdraw that way at all, and document verification may be requested first.
Bank transfer is the slowest and the most restricted: US users only.
Kalshi names PayPal and wire as alternatives on its debit-card page but gives no timing or fee for either, so neither is filled in above. Cash App works for deposits only; Kalshi says it is not a withdrawal method. International withdrawals go through a different provider from US ones (Checkout for cards).
Two limits that apply to every method
- A personal daily withdrawal limit. Kalshi says it is set per account and rises with account activity. It does not publish the number.
- A hold on recent deposits. Money you have just deposited can be held for a period that depends on how you deposited it. The withdrawal screen shows when your funds become available.
The three things that actually go wrong
Kalshi's own help pages document each of these. They are the reasons behind most of the complaints, and none of them are stated on the page a frustrated user lands on first.
1. A compliance review, not a bug
If your account or card is under review by Kalshi's payment processor, debit card withdrawals become temporarily unavailable. Kalshi says these reviews "typically take 3 to 5 business days to complete."
This is the single most useful thing to know. A withdrawal that errors, or a method that silently disappears from the menu, is usually a processor review running in the background, not a lost transaction and not an account problem. It resolves on its own inside a working week.
2. Venmo has to be linked from the deposit page
To withdraw to Venmo, the account must already be linked, and the only place to link it is the deposit flow. You do not have to deposit; you follow the linking steps on the deposit page, abandon the flow, and Venmo then appears as a withdrawal option.
Kalshi documents this in unusually plain terms: "We apologize if this is unclear. This is a known nuance on our side." It is a genuine trap, and it looks exactly like Venmo withdrawals being unsupported.
3. Money sent to a closed account is not gone
If a withdrawal reaches a bank account or debit card that is closed or inactive, Kalshi's instruction is to contact your bank or card issuer, not Kalshi, with the amount, the date, and any reference or trace ID so they can locate it.
For debit cards specifically, if the bank cannot accept the payout the funds are returned to your Kalshi balance, usually within a few hours.
What users report
From 47 threads in r/Kalshi, r/PredictionMarkets and r/sportsbook in the
90 days to 27 August 2026. These are reported experiences, not verified
outcomes, aggregated because the pattern matters more than any single account.
The most common themes were identity and document verification (16 of 47 threads), followed by processing delays, bank transfer questions, and error messages on withdrawal attempts. Several threads describe a withdrawal attempt returning an error with no explanation, which maps onto the 3 to 5 day compliance review above, and is not documented anywhere the user would see it.
Two things worth flagging that the documentation does not cover:
- Withdrawal problems cluster after a win. Several threads describe an account working normally until a large settlement, then a verification request. That is ordinary anti-money-laundering practice rather than anything unique to Kalshi, but it surprises people and the help pages do not prepare them for it.
- State availability can change under you. In August 2026, users reported Washington State being blocked from Kalshi. Where you can trade, and therefore withdraw, is a moving target: on 28 August 2026 the Ninth Circuit ruled 3-0 that Nevada may apply its gaming laws to Kalshi's sports contracts, the opposite of the Third Circuit's New Jersey ruling. See Kalshi legality.
Before you withdraw
- Use crypto if you can. 30 minutes against a few business days, same zero fee, and available internationally.
- Complete verification early, before you need the money, not after a win.
- A missing method is usually a review, not a fault. Wait 3 to 5 business days before escalating.
- Kalshi runs maintenance on Thursdays, roughly 3:00 to 5:00 AM ET, when the exchange is offline.
- Withdrawal is not the same as tax reporting. Getting money out is free; what you owe on it is a separate question, see Kalshi fees.
